Future of Recreational Vehicles that Can Fly
This new travel concept, the Polestar Air.V Flying RV, is a look at the future of travel vehicles for personal use involving a flying recreational vehicle. The Polestar Air.V is part RV and part helicopter. It's an e-VTOL that is unique in that it lifts into the air an RV, which, of course, is much heavier than a car. Polestar Air.V takes off and lands like a helicopter. For many, in this time of pandemics, this would be the ultimate way to travel in order to avoid planes, trains and hotels and potential exposure to COVID.
Unique Automotive Design
Consider the possibilities of this unique concept vehicle which is the creation of automotive design expert Marcelo Aguiar, who calls it a design exercise. You and your family fly to your destination in the Polestar Air.V and bypass public travel modes. As an e-VTOL it takes off like a helicopter from your driveway and lands in the parking lot of your destination. It is travel to a vacation or business meeting that is isolated from travelling crowds and controlled by you.
How Does The e-VTOL Work?
The flying RV is a quadcopter with no wheels. It has four retractable wings. It moves by opening its wings and using micro-reactor sets in each corner of the e-VTOL to gain speed, altitude and change direction. The wings fold down when the RV isn't in a flying mode. The Polstar Air.V is designed to have a minimalist feel.
RV Accommodations
The Air.V has a protective shell/structure around a transparent glass cabin. Light comes into the cabin from the front, sides and a skylight. The glass is glazed on the inside and serves as an infotainment center. The EV is designed for two occupants, a small child and a pet. There is an open living room space, with a small kitchen and a bedroom. The vehicle even has a small balcony. The Polestar Air.V is a distinctive new vision of the future of travel in a zero emissions, electric, flying RV.
