Ford's 2030 Car Kid Inspired
Ford's Car of 2030 - Red, Electric & Flies
Ford has surveyed more than 500 girls and boys to learn what the kids believe their car of the future should look like and be capable of in 2030 when they start driving. The survey's findings have resulted in these artist renderings by Ford's top designer Nedzad Mujcinovic of the Car of the Future 2030. As you can see from the images, the young people want a car for themselves that is red, totally electric, safe, fun, comfortable and is capable of flying.
Safe, Electric and Autonomous
The kids surveyed are 8 and 9 year olds, who expect to learn to drive in 2030. They have a very definitive, collective point of view. They want the car's power source to be totally electric with zero emissions. They put a very high priority on their car of the future being good for the environment. The kids also want the car to have very high levels of safety technology. A majority of them want the car to be so simple to operate that no drivers test is needed. They also embrace autonomous driving. And they want the car to be capable of flying to get over traffic jams. Their favorite color for the Car of 2030 is red and secondly black.
Future Generation Focus Group
Ford's Future Generation Focus Group has provided Ford with many young consumer trends and insights highly valuable in designing cars for consumers in the 2030's. The kids prioritize cars that can also fly as their # 1 choice for future mobility. They also put a premium on safety and environmental sustainability.
Simultaneous Adult Survey
Ford also surveyed 2,000 adults about driving in 2030. Half think that as automakers switch to electric vehicles, they should revolutionize the design, look and styling of their cars. More than 70% of the adults surveyed want cars made of sustainable, recycled materials and they want transparency from automakers on the sourcing of the materials to manufacture the vehicles. Interestingly, the US government plans to outlaw the sale of new diesel and gas powered cars in 2030. Ford says all of the intelligence gathered from these surveys is very important to them because they want to build cars that consumers really want to buy. Ford expects 40% of its global vehicle sales to be electric by 2030.
