Unique Solar Mosaic Technology
China has just introduced remarkable new solar mosaic technology that recharges an all-electric pickup truck while it is driving. The EV truck is equipped with a retractable solar roof composed of uniquely designed solar mosaic technology. The new EF1-T pickup truck is the product of Chinese automaker Edison Future, which is a subsidiary of the Chinese renewable energy company SPI Energy. The retractable roof adds range while the EV is driving on the road or working a construction site or farm.
Tech Specs
The EV has four doors and an open bed in the back that gets covered by the solar roof. The standard model has a 470 horsepower electric engine that goes 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds. The premium model has two electric motors that can accelerate 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. And the super model has three electric motors that can go 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. The company says the unique solar mosaic roof allows for constant recharging in the field.
All Electric Van
Besides the pickup, there is also an all-electric van just being introduced by Edison Future. The E-van comes with a single or dual motor configuration with 400 horsepower and 690 horsepower respectively. It also has the new solar mosaic retractable roof. The company will start taking reservations for purchase in mid-November when the vehicles make their debut at the LA Auto Show. Pricing, delivery dates and more information should be made available at that time.
