At the LA Auto Show, Hyundai unveiled an extra large electric SUV concept called the Hyundai Ioniq Seven, which the company calls " a category bending proposition". The vehicle is breakthrough in several respects. It is an advanced technology platform for Hyundai's future of big electric SUVs, which it calls SUEVs. It is also a look at Hyundai's vision of the future of autonomous vehicles that serve as new living spaces. And it showcases the capabilities of Hyundai's EV platform. The Electric Global Modular Platform or E-GMP can be stretched and scaled to make extra large SUVs or smaller ones. This platform has versatility and will be used for the upcoming Ioniq 5, Kia EVs and Genesis GV60. It is a breakthrough piece of EV technology in the automotive industry.
Tech Specs
The Seven is a concept but because of the great popularity of SUVs, it is expected to hit showrooms. The EV has a targeted range of 300 miles on a charge. Its battery has a 350 kW capacity and can charge from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes. Seven is one of the biggest SUVs out there and is expected to be larger than the Cadillac Escalade.
Design, Style & More
The vehicle has a smooth, rounded and forward thinking design. There are retractable controls, retractable cameras instead of side mirrors and coach style doors. The interior is plush and made of renewable, recycled material that is hygienically treated. To prevent any virus transmissions, there are UVC lights that sterilize everything when no one is inside the EV. And the display screens are amazing. There is a 27 inch display screen in the front of the vehicle and a full length infotainment display on the dash. There is also a 77 inch ceiling display for entertainment. When autonomous, it is meant to serve as a new living space with seats that pivot, transform and slide into new formations for passengers and the driver to enjoy a self-driving vehicle. It is a look at the future of zero emissions driving with a lot of technological advancements for riders and passengers alike.
