A Digital Assistant for Your Driving Needs
Artificial intelligence (AI) is having an accelerating impact on cars for greater safety, smarter tech and self-driving, autonomous systems. Now, a new AI system has been developed that serves as a high-end driver's assistant for you in your car. Cerence Co-Pilot is being headlined as a "digital butler for your car". It will debut at the upcoming CES 2022 show in Las Vegas. The new Cerence Co-pilot appears to have the potential to redefine the relationship between driver and car. It is deeply integrated, intelligent new automotive mobility technology enabled by artificial intelligence.
What's the Moving Force Behind This New Tech?
The moving force is using AI as an integral helper and intuitive reader of the driver's needs, right down to ordering a great cup of coffee along the travel route. Cerence is headquartered in Burlington, MA near Boston. It is a leader in vehicle voice recognition technology. Its new Cerence Co-Pilot is an intuitive, AI powered driving companion/assistant that learns and anticipates the needs of the driver through AI and continuous machine learning. For example, it can proactively offer to schedule needed services, like an oil change, before the driver knows it's needed. Also, it can suggest to the driver to order a coffee when they are a mile away from their favorite coffee shop. Or, if the AI knows there's a 50 mile plus business appointment for tomorrow, it can suggest getting filling-up the tank.
The Car's Central Control Brain
According to the company, Cerence Co-Pilot is designed to be the car's brain. It is integrated with the car's sensors and data to know what is going on inside and outside of the vehicle. The technology analyzes data from the touch controls, the driver's voice, gestures and eye movements. It combines that information with data on the driver's preferences and habits. Incredibly, it can keep the driver informed and also anticipate what they might want or need, like a needed repair and then set up the appointment. The company says there are a lot more capabilities that it is working on with AI enabled solutions.
