From the UK, Funky, Fun Driving That Goes Back to the 1950's

The iconic beach buggy, the Austin Mini Moke, hails back to the late 1950's and 1960's and was a favorite among celebrities like the Beatles and Peter Sellers.  The doorless, windowless, funky buggy even had supporting roles with James Bond 007 in his movies.  Fast forward to 2022, it has been resurrected and significantly upgraded by the British company Moke International, which now owns the global trademark.

What's Old Is Now New and Going Electric

The original Moke is the innovation of the British inventor of the Mini car, Sir Alec Issigonis.  The new, next-G Moke has an automatic transmission, new brakes, power steering and an upgraded suspension.  The boxy chassis dates back to the original.  It has a 1.1-liter, 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 67 hp.  There are clip-on door screens and an attachable windshield in the event of bad weather. It can carry 4 passengers and hit speeds of 68 mph. The price is $30,000 and it's available in 13 colors including a flashy pink and a spunky orange.  It is a fun vehicle particularly for trips to the beach and it soon will offer zero emissions travel.
