Breakthrough Sailing and Flying Technology

Italy's prestigious Lazzarini Design Studio has created "Air Yacht".  It's an enormous yacht that sails the seas and also "sails the skies" while flying.  The superyacht is powered by electric engines, ultra-light batteries and solar cells.  The sailing and flying technologies are breakthrough innovation. They include huge helium blimps for flying and inflatable air basements for sailing.

Breakthrough Aviation and Yachting Technologies

Air Yacht is equipped with two identical blimps filled with 400,000 cubic meters of helium. The helium gives lift to the zero emissions vessel's flights. The blimps are driven by 8 electric motors. Air Yacht can fly at 60 knots for more than 48 hours.  The sailing technology is also breakthrough.  The vessel has inflatable basements that fill with air as it nears the water, allowing it to float silently along on the water.  The water speed is up to 5 knots.  According to the designer Pierpaulo Lazzarini, Air Yacht is "pushed down by the rotation of the engines and can stand in the water through a depressurization of helium and the ballast anchor system".

More Tech Specs

The main hull of this concept vessel is composed of carbon fiber and is 262 feet long.  There are 8, counter-rotating electric engines powered by ultra-light batteries and by a massive system of solar cell panels on the top of the vessel's components.  Two airships are connected by 4 carbon fiber bridges which connect the main hull structure (in the middle) to the two floating helium blimp balloons.  The vessel is targeted for individual ownership.  There are ten suites, a large living room, dining room, pool and more.  Lazzarini is developing a prototype.  If someone orders Air Yacht, it will cost $621,000,000 and it will take five years to build.  Air Yacht is a luxurious, green, breakthrough look at the future of water and air travel.
