Fisker's Global Expansion Plans
There has been a big strategic move on the global chessboard of electric vehicles (EVs). California based Fisker is partnering with Apple iPhone manufacturer Foxconn of Taiwan to produce and sell EVs in the huge India market. This is very important on multiple levels. Foxconn recently announced that it is in the EV business and is developing its own EVs. Some experts believe that Foxconn has a good chance of becoming the manufacturer of the widely anticipated Apple electric, autonomous EV. Add to that, Henrik Fisker is one of the most accomplished leaders in the automotive industry. He is the innovative designer of such vehicles as the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9. Their new partnership is a powerful and noteworthy one with game-changing potential into the future.
Key Element of the Partnership
By early 2024, Fisker will building its second EV called Pear in India with Foxconn. It targets selling the EV in 2024-2025 at a price starting at $26,780. Fisker expects a sales volume of 2.5 million. Fisker will also start production of its first EV - Fisker Ocean SUV - sometime in 2022 in the US. They plan on selling the vehicle in both the US and India. The Ocean comes in two battery configurations. The larger battery system enables a range of 348 miles on a single charge. The Ocean's starting price is $37,499. There are already 25,000 vehicles on order.
The Future
Fisker is clearly a hot EV company. Entering the India market underscores its future - a growing global presence.
