New, Green Travel Innovation
San Diego, CA based mobility company JackRabbit has created a unique micro electric bike called Jack Rabbit. The bike does not have traditional pedals so it's a cross between a bike and a scooter. Jack Rabbit is for urban commuters. It is very lightweight and folds into a small shape for storage. There is a 300 W geared motor in the bike's rear tire and a 158 Wh removable battery on top of the frame. With the push of the throttle on the handlebars, it can speed up to 20 mph. The range on a charge is 12 miles. It's the invention of University of California at San Diego coach Tom Piszkin to enable better e-bike commuting and e-bike ownership for university students and city commuters.
Lightweight and Foldable
Piszkin is the co-founder of JackRabbit. He designed the e-bike to be lightweight at 24 pounds. And, incredibly, it can be folded down to a width of 7 inches for easy storage. This bike is very new and it is growing in popularity particularly among boaters and RV owners, who need a light and easily stored extra ride. It's also one of the few e-bikes that clears airline and TSA requirements for plane travel.
Available for Purchase
JackRabbit is available for purchase at $1,199 and add-ons like a rear rack and extra battery can also be purchased. The electric vehicle has 20" wheels with a wider tire in the rear to compensate for the lack of suspension. It also has a single disc brake and a rigid bike fork in the front. It's a small e-bike that private investors and biking enthusiasts find an intriguing means to further accelerate e-bike usage and to provide yet another innovative boost to the multi-billion-dollar, global e-bike industry.
