New Electric Sports Car

It was more than 40 years ago, in 1975, that the glitzy, avantgarde Delorean DMC hit the global automotive market.  The vehicle was nothing less than an automotive trailblazer of a sports car with its stainless-steel body, gull wing doors and flashy futuristic design.  Now, four decades later, the DeLorean sports car is being reborn as the DeLorean Alpha 5 EV concept car.  It has the classic gull wing doors but everything else is new, all electric and zero emissions.  The vehicle will be unveiled in August by the new DeLorean Motors which is owned and operated by British automotive mechanic Stephen Wynn in Humble, Texas.  The original DeLorean Motors, founded by automotive legend John DeLorean, went out of business in 1982.

Tech Specs & More

As you can see in the images, the Alpha 5 EV is sleek, smooth and very stylish.  The vehicle is all electric.  It's expected to have a 100kWh battery that will enable a range of more than 300 miles on a charge and speeds up to 155 mph.  In terms of design, the body is all about aerodynamics.  The two-door coupe has the basic shape of the fuselage of an aircraft, and it tapers as it approaches the back of the vehicle.  The interior is very high tech.  There are two large displays.  One is in the instrument panel and the other is an infotainment system that seems to rise from a central console and displays on the dashboard. There is no official price, but the company has suggested a base price of $100,000.  They are accepting pre-order applications for the vehicle.  The Alpha 5 EV is a gorgeous new piece of automotive technology for the future of driving, emissions free.
