The Democratization of Flight

The co-founder of Sweden's Jetson flying car company just completed the world's first commute in his company's $83,600 Jetson One flying car.  Tomasz Patan flew the eVTOL (electric, vertical takeoff and landing vehicle) from his home in the hills of Tuscany to his company building that is located 3 miles away.  His commute time was reduced by 88%.  His world-first eVTOL commute showcased how user friendly and time saving flying cars are designed to be.  The company says that Jetson One is fun and incredibly easy to fly.  Their goal is to democratize flying with the widespread use of eVTOLs for mass transportation.

Tech Specs

Jetson One is powered by 8 electric engines that have a maximum range of 20 minutes flying time.  As an eVTOL, the vehicle can take off from and land on just about any place, including a driveway, making it ultra-convenient.  The top speed is 63 mph, maximum altitude is 1500 feet and being electric-powered, there are zero emissions.  The design of the vehicle was influenced by race cars with their lightweight aluminum frames and carbon composite bodies.  Jetson One has a high discharge, lithium-ion battery.

Very Easy to Fly

The company calls Jetson One "a Formula One car for the sky".  Thanks to their Flight Stabilization System which, they say, makes flying easy, they can teach anyone to be a pilot in less than 5 minutes.  In the US and elsewhere, the aircraft can be flown in open spaces without a pilot's license or mandated training because it is so lightweight.

Safety Features

In terms of safety features, the eVTOL has a spaceframe safety cell similar to race cars, hands-free hover and emergency functions and a ballistic parachute that rapidly deploys.  There is a redundant flight computer, Lidar terrain tracking and obstacle avoidance. Additionally, it can fly safely even if it loses a motor.  The vehicle is in hot demand.  Jetson's 2022 production line is totally sold out and they are taking orders for Jetson One for delivery in 2023.
