Ford's Mustang Mach-e Is Taking On Tesla

Ford has a big winner in its 2022 Mustang Mach-e electric SUV.  Demand has been so strong for the EV, you can't place an order for the 2022 model.  You can get on a reserve list to place an order for the 2023 model. This vehicle is a big winner because Ford pulled out all the stops in creating their first EV to take-on Tesla.  The Mustang Mach-e is the recipient of many of the automotive industry's most prestigious awards. It is Consumer Report's "Top Pick" replacing the Tesla Model 3.  The Automobile Association of America Car Guide 2022 named it their Top Car. Car and Driver awarded it their first "EV of the Year".  It is a sell-out vehicle with a growing, prestigious pedigree.

What Are the Differentiators?

There are plenty of differentiators, starting with power, style and new technologies. The Mustang Mach-e has smooth, sleek and aerodynamic good looks. In terms of power, the vehicle has a dual electric motor powertrain with a front motor setup that gives it zip and great handling.  It pumps out 480 hp and 600 pound-feet of torque.  The EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, which is equal to the Tesla Y.  But the Mustang Mach-e costs about $7,000 less than the Tesla Y.  It also has a solid range of 314 miles on a charge. Automotive reviewers say that the new Mustang is more reliable and has superior driver assistance features including the BlueCruise hands-free driving system.  Some add that the infotainment and other digital displays in the Mustang are much easier to use.  Pricing for the EV starts at $43,895.  It appears to be a standout vehicle for 2022 and it is certainly a formidable weapon that Ford has developed to take on Tesla.  For more news stories like this, New Travel Vehicles Illustrated
