Electric UTV Can Hit 80 MPH

Texas-based e-powersports company Volcon has just unveiled its first all-electric, utility terrain vehicle (UTV), the Stag. The EV can hit speeds up to 80 mph and is capable of 100-plus miles of range on a charge.  It joins Volcon's very well received electric, off-road motorcycles, the Grunt and the Runt, as part of a lineup of ultra-fun off-roaders.  Volcon says the Stag has the latest in EV technology and extreme power, without the noise and emissions of other popular UTVs.  What I find particularly compelling about the vehicle is that it is so smart.  It has unique Human Machine Integration - HMI - along with onboard cameras to tape the adventure and advanced connectivity.

Very Smart, Rugged & Athletic Looking

The Stag has a very rugged looking, toned and athletic body with great styling and safety features like a caged passenger cabin.  What is uniquely fascinating are the digital displays on the dashboard. They are smart and deliver unparalleled HMI or Human Machine Integration with full visibility and control.  The central display has connectivity, off-road gauges, route planning and camera views.  All of which both the driver and passengers can see.  The cameras tape the journey and onboard computer hardware processes it so that it can be shared real-time with family and friends via the Volcon app and a sim card.

Tech Specs

The Stag has a lot of spunk and power.  Its electric motor pumps out 125 hp and 265 ft-lbs. of torque.  With an optional power boost package, the hp hits 143 hp plus. It's capable of towing up to 2,000 pounds.  The powertrain contains a 42-kWh battery pack that can be fully recharged in 7 hours.  For maximum handling it has a low center of gravity and a suspension system with fully adjustable shocks. Volcon says the Stag has unparalleled off-road acceleration.  There is 4-wheel drive for particularly rough off-road conditions and very beefy, BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires.  It fits 4 adults and can be reserved for $100 for purchase in the summer of 2023 at a price of $39,999.

No Oil Changes

Last but not least, Stag has a closed motor system which means no oil, filter, belt or transmission fluid changes! It also contains a regenerative braking system that is very energy efficient.  All in all, this is a one-of-a-kind electric off-roader.  For more news like this, New Travel Vehicles Illustrated
