Green, Luxurious, Sustainable Flying

AWWA Sky Whale is a brand-new plane concept, loaded with the latest in aviation technologies, that promises to deliver ultra-luxurious and much greener passenger flights that offer sustainable flying and the ultimate in aviation performance.   AWWA is a three-story, hybrid electric, solar powered plane, capable of carrying 775 passengers with some in luxury hotel accommodations.  It is the brilliant and intriguing concept work of Barcelona-based, aviation designer Oscar Vinals that was just unveiled at a prestigious exhibit on the future of transportation in Kuwait.  The new technologies behind this new flying machine are absolutely awesome and provide a fascinating glimpse at the potential future possibilities of flying in upcoming decades.

Brand New Aviation Technologies

This new passenger plane is going to be a flying platform for cutting-edge new aviation technologies.  The aircraft will be able to generate its own electricity with highly advanced, tiny solar cells arranged in a hexagonal pattern on the plane's roof.  The aircraft will have "self-healing, self-repairing skin".  It will be powered by hybrid electric engines.  The plane will be configured with a double fuselage and be composed of ceramic or fiber composites, alloys and carbon nanotubes.  The designer says it will have very long "active wings". The wings can swivel up to 45 degrees to help enable much quicker and shorter takeoffs and landings.

More Unique Technologies

The plane will be equipped with fiber optic cabling and virtual reality windows that have changeable opacity.  An electric turbine will produce electric energy for the aircraft's 4, huge electric hybrid engines.  The turbine, which sits inside the wing close to the fuselage, may also direct, handle and manage laminar airflow and turbulence.  Sky Whale will be built on a new hybrid, turbo-electric propulsion system that will be made possible by breakthrough new battery technology.

Flying Hotel

AWWA is a flying hotel with spas, gyms and spectacular views from the large, rooftop windows to the many windows on the plane's three levels.  A fly by wire system and avionics are used to control most aspects of the flight, assisted by sensors across the plane's surface.  It's a magnificent look at the future of flying that is just on the horizon of new travel.
