Hot-Rodding in an Electric Muscle Car

Looks like Dodge just hit an electrified home run at the 2022 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Dodge just unveiled its highly upgraded concept, the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, which Dodge calls the world's first fully electrified muscle car. Dodge, which is owned by Stellantis, is offering its new electric Charger Daytona SRT concept in three, powertrain output power levels.  Dodge says that the potential exists for 9 powertrain levels.  Dodge has developed and disclosed new information on 3 electric Charger models. The top model called the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee has a huge 800-volt electrified engine system that is expected to deliver very big horsepower, that could come close to 800, 900 or 1,000 hp.

Tech Specs

The basic, entry Charger model has a 400-volt system that pumps out 458 hp.  The power can be increased to an eStage1 level of 495 hp and an eStage 2 level of 535 hp. The second, more powerful model has a 440-volt system that pumps out 590 hp. The power can be increased to 630 hp at eStage1 and to 670 hp at eStage2.  And the top performer called the Banshee with its 800-volt engine is expected to deliver very high horsepower. There are suggestions the horsepower could edge up toward 1,000 hp. The Banshee has unique drivetrain hardware to sustain the higher hp levels.   Dodge is using unique plug and play performance software upgrades called "crystals" to increase the horsepower.  Direct Connection Stage 1 & Stage 2 performance upgrades are obtained by using a crystal key that plugs into the dashboard of the new charger.

Take Aways From the Charger Unveiling

The vehicle is intriguing and the technological approach to delivering increasing stages of horsepower to the vehicle is unique.  Dodge calls the new Charger an "old-school hot-rodder in an electrified muscle car future".  It is expected to go into full production.  For more stories like this, Latest Innovations For Tomorrow
