New Kind of Supercar Immersive Experience
Legendary British automaker Aston Martin will release in 2023 a spectacular new kind of immersive supercar, that the company says is driver centric. It is called Valhalla, which is the majestic Viking/Norsemen Hall of the Gods where slain warriors find their final resting place. Aston Martin's Valhalla is far from moribund. It's a vital, majestic, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that is inspired by Formula 1 race cars and has the luxurious interior of a hot sports car. This new hybrid powertrain vehicle is a first for Aston Martin and marks the beginning of a new automotive journey for the luxury carmaker which was secret agent 007 James Bond's favorite way to drive.
Tech Specs
The vehicle is among the fastest supercars ever created. Top speed is 217 mph, and it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds. It's a mid-engine plug-in hybrid sports car developed by Aston Martin with Red Bull Racing. It's powered by a 4-liter, twin turbo V8 engine specially sourced from AMG-Mercedes. Just the combustion engine produces 812 hp. The power of the new V8 is intensified by a 150 kW/400-volt battery hybrid system with electric motors in the front and rear of the car. The hybrid electric combination adds up to a total output of 1,012 hp and 739 pound-feet of torque. This is a technological first-of-a-kind for Aston Martin. It's their first Aston with a hybrid powertrain. It has an 8-speed dual clutch unit along with a transmission specially developed for the vehicle. Aston calls it a new kind of immersive supercar experience that enhances the fun of driving for the driver.
Can I Buy It?
The Valhalla goes to market in 2023. Just 999 will be built. Aston is taking pre-orders. The starting price is surprising: $800,000. The sports car body is composed of full carbon fiber with new design materials. It is F1 race car inspired and sports a beautiful design style and luxury interior. It is Aston Martin's big move from combustion engines to hybrids and on to total electrification in their "immersive, new kind of supercar" - Valhalla.
