Electrifying Performance from Mercedes' PHEV Sedan
Mercedes has unveiled the most powerful S Class sedan that it has ever created. And it is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) which happens to be Mercedes flagship. It's the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance hybrid. The EV with its hybrid V-8 engine delivers a very powerful 791 hp and 1,055 ft-lbs of torque. The vehicle is one of Mercedes most powerful vehicles ever and it is engineered for top driving performance. Furthermore, as a flagship model, it heralds that PHEV's are a key direction for MB vehicles in the future.
Beautiful Design
The new EV design is elegant, classic and beautiful. It is very much in the 4-door, luxury sedan S-Class tradition but with some upgrades. There are 21-inch wheels, a bumper with big air intakes and a new AMG grille in the front. These new touches give the car a more exciting, athletic and sportier look. The interior is pure luxury with specialized digital displays and much more.
Tech Specs
This EV is a hybrid V-8 powertrain, large, 4-door luxury sedan. It has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with a rear-axle, mounted electric motor. The electric motor is attached to a 13.1-kWh battery pack which provides 20 miles of all-electric range. Top speed is 180 mph. And it rockets from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, which puts the EV into supercar category. The powertrain is connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all 4 wheels. There are 7 dynamic driving modes to select from, including electric and slippery, which are customizable to the driver. Mercedes hasn't specified the price yet, but it is expected to be north of $160,000.
