  • Australian startup AMSL Aero's new eVTOL, Vertiia, is powered on hydrogen & is designed to deliver 620 miles of range
  • The projected range is the longest, thus far, in the eVTOL global industry
  • The Sydney, Australia company has just started test flights on Vertiia
  • The 1st, remote-controlled test flight on a tethered, full scale demonstrator prototype was a success
  • The electric, vertical takeoff and landing vehicle can fly 155 miles on its electric batteries and 621 miles with its hydrogen fuel cell powertrain
  • It has 8 sets of motors and propellers on its box wing design for maximum aerodynamic efficiency
  • Vertiia can carry a pilot and 4 passengers
  • Wingspan is 23 feet, which should enable it to be part of urban aerial mobility
  • Expected to go into service in 2026 for passenger transport, aeromedical and emergency services.

GOOGLE BREAKTHROUGH ON QUANTUM COMPUTING

  • Google scientists say they have achieved a milestone breakthrough in their quest for effective quantum computers
  • They have greatly reduced the error rate that the high powered, quantum speed, computers have been prone to, which has been the obstacle to widespread use of quantum computing
  • The breakthrough is from Sandbox AQ, a startup spinoff from Google's parent company Alphabet
  • Sandbox yesterday raised $500 million to continue the development of its quantum computing system
  • Quantum computers can perform calculations millions of times faster than super computers & have processors that operate on quantum physics
  • Experts say the new innovation from Sandbox could move quantum computing from theory to reality
  • Sandbox has already developed a prototype machine that can precisely monitor the human heart
  • The machine can also monitor the slightest changes in the earth's magnetic field to make navigation system much more precise
  • The potential impact of quantum computing is so profound that that the US government considers it critical to national security.

MICROSOFT's BING AI CHATBOT ON MOBILE DEVICES

                                                                    Source:  Microsoft

  • Microsoft just launched its Bing AI Chatbot on mobile devices
  • It's now available on Microsoft Edge mobile browser and the Bing App on iOS and Android devices
  • Microsoft says 1 million people in 169 countries have already tried the AI-powered chatbot
  • Chatbot is designed to provide words that are the most likely response; in other words, it completes a sentence in a way that's statistically probable based on its input and training
  • Microsoft and startup Open AI created Bing AI Chatbot using technology known as generative AI (artificial intelligence)
  • Open AI created ChatGPT, the controversial app capable of generating all types of contents in seconds, including completing law school exam essays
  • Some universities and companies, like JP Morgan Chase, are banning the use of ChatGPT over concerns about unfair competitive advantages and compliance issues.
