AI FIGHTER JET PILOT FROM DARPA
- An incredible new, artificial intelligence (AI) milestone has been achieved in aviation
- The US Defense Department's Advanced Research Projects Agency DARPA has successfully developed an AI system that is so sophisticated that it can pilot an F-16 fighter jet
- A modified F-16 fighter jet was flown and successfully engaged in dog fights with another fighter jet for 17 hours while being piloted only by AI with no human intervention
- AI jet is known as Vista or X-62A
- Vista performed takeoffs, landings and combat maneuvers
- DARPA says this breakthrough AI software can be programmed into a variety of planes for AI piloting.
AI MAKING MUSIC
- 2023 could be the year that AI generated music goes into direct competition with original human compositions, according to some AI experts
- AI generated music is now escalating in growth
- Examples include Google's AI research project MusicLM which just demonstrated its ability to convert texts into new works of music
- China's Tencent Music & Entertainment has created and released more than 1,000 AI generated music tracks
- Music streaming platform Anghami says it will host 200,000 songs generated by AI
- AI music is generated at high speed for specific uses, many times without problems with licensing rights or content issues
- Controversy: some experts say that original music, at this time, is far more impactful than AI-generated music
- Big opportunity: some experts think that using AI music to backup original music could create unique musical genres and expeiences
