DORONI H1 e-VTOL SUCCESSFULLY FLIES
- Pompano Beach, Florida based Doroni Aerospace has successfully completed test flights of its new eVTOL personal "flying car", Doroni H1
- H1 is a 2-seat, personal, eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft designed to fly above city traffic and significantly cut the commuting time
- Charging time is 15 to 20 minutes
- Range on a charge is 60 miles
- Top speed is 140 mph
- Dimensions are 23 ft x 15 ft with a height of 5.5 ft
- It has 10, independent propulsion systems
- Will go commercial in Q3 2024
- Priced to start at $195,000
- This flying EV is targeted as a "family aerial vehicle" that can be parked in your garage
- More than $225,000,000 raised very recently in a funding round from investors to develop it.
FORD PATENTS A UNIQUE SELF-DRIVING CAR
- Ford has just been awarded a patent by the US Patent Office for an autonomous car that can re-possess itself if the owner goes significantly delinquent on the car payments
- Ford says that a computer tells the car to drive back to the dealership showroom if the no-payment situation persists and all else fails to nudge the owner to make the payments that he/she owes
- Before the self-driving car surrenders itself to repossession, Ford's program tries other remote disabling remedies such as limiting where and when the car can be driven and cutting off comfort features like air-conditioning and music
- Ford thinks that this innovative technological approach is a far better alternative to the potential confrontations of re-possessing a car from an owner who just won't pay and wants an ongoing free ride
- This surprising, patented technology innovation from Ford is a unique, first of its kind for the global automotive industry.
GENETICS BRINGING EXTINCT SPECIES BACK TO LIFE
- Genetic engineering company Colossal Bioscience is trying to bring back into existence the centuries-old extinct Dodo bird and other species
- This company, with operations in Boston, Dallas & Austin, has raised more than $225 million from investors in recent months and is valued at $1 billion, to resurrect extinct species, including the Tasmanian Tiger, the woolly mammoth and the Dodo
- Humans made the Dodo, a flightless bird that's a bit larger than the turkey, extinct by simply killing it for food
- Dodo has been extinct since 1681
- The DNA breakthrough here is that Colossal has just sequenced the entire genome of the Dodo for the first time
- Colossal's approach is using a suite of genetic tools to capture the Dodo's genetic code, DNA & much more to accurately generate a next-G Dodo gene sequencing model to duplicate
- The genetic engineering process is hoped to result in embryos to resurrect the new Dodo species into its native Mauritius to start in the wild
- Colossal is creating an Avian Genomic Group to bring back the Dodo and other extinct bird species
- They are doing the same with the woolly mammoth by developing and then implanting embryos in healthy female surrogate elephants
- New resurrected species are expected within 5 years
- Beyond bringing back to life extinct species, this highly innovative bioscience, according to the company, is expected to provide value to human health care.
