NEW LANCIA ELECTRIC CAR CONCEPTS
Source: Lancia
- Lancia, the legendary, 116-year-old Italian automaker known for its "la dolce vita" styling, is being reinvented as a very stylish, premium EV brand by its new owner Stellantis
- In April, Lancia will introduce a mystery car concept, that's likely to be hybrid-electric to kick off its new direction
- The new vehicle, to debut during Milan Design Week, comes just a few months after Lancia unveiled the Pu-Ra Zero concept, which is a fascinating futuristic design and represents the company's new design direction
- Pu-Ra Zero blends angular elements with smooth shapes and is all electric
- In 2024, the new Lancia Epsilon with a strong resemblance to Pu-Ra Zero will go to market
- Epsilon has an all-electric powertrain and a Y-shaped lighting similar to the Pu-Ra Zero concept
- The EV will be built on Stellantis' STLA EV platform with its electric motor(s) generating up to 442 hp, a 104kWh battery and a range up to 435 miles
- Lancia expects to be an all-electric brand by 2028
- It also expects to be Stellantis' top brand for using recycled materials in its vehicles.
APPLE WATCH & NON-INVASIVE GLUCOSE MONITORING
- An Apple moonshot project, going back to Steve Jobs, to develop continuous, non-invasive glucose level monitoring (now via the Apple Watch) is coming to fruition
- Major tech milestones have been achieved and the company has hundreds of employees working to bring this medical breakthrough to market
- The monitoring system consists of chips known as silicon photonics and a measurement process called optical absorption spectroscopy that use sensors, lasers & software algorithms to measure glucose levels
- The monitoring system will be embedded in the Apple Watch
- If perfected, this new tech could make Apple a health care powerhouse
- It would be a blessing to millions of diabetics who prick themselves to measure blood sugar levels
- It would also alert wearers if they are pre-diabetic
- Apple watchers say this new technology looks very promising.
MICROSOFT'S NEW GPT-4 WITH AI GENERATED VIDEOS
- Microsoft will unveil its new AI model, GPT-4 with the capability to create AI-generated videos from basic text, next week at the "AI In Focus" event
- This could be a gamechanger as it will be a lot more powerful than GPT-3.5 that powers the current version of the very hot ChatGPT
- Language Model AIs are algorithms that recognize, synthesize and generate text, based on information garnered from huge mega-databases
- Microsoft appears to now have the capability to move the tech from text to image to text to video in a bigger way
- This is one of the hottest sectors of tech development right now with Meta and Google also generating videos from text prompts in their systems.
