GLOBAL WARMING WILL BREAK KEY THRESHOLD BY 2027

  • The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) forecasts that global temperatures will soar to record levels in the next 5 years and break & exceed the key climate threshold of 1.5C for the 1st time in world history
  • WMO says that Earth is entering unchartered WX territory that will impact our health, food, environment and water security
  • The group is sounding the alarm that the world will breach the threshold, (which underpins the Paris Agreement to bring down greenhouse gas emissions to drop global temperatures), temporarily and "with increasing frequency"
  • The chance of exceeding the 1.5C limit has been increasing since 2015
  • The past 8 years have been setting new heat records and have been marked by extreme weather, drought and flooding
  • This is a major warning from global meteorologists that mean temperatures will continue to rise unless Climate Change is systematically addressed globally, nationally and locally.

  • US startup Jet Zero has created a new aircraft called the Jetliner that burns 50% less fuel and produces 4-times less noise than conventional jet aircraft
  • The differential:  its blended wing or flying wing design in which the wing and fuselage blend together into one unit with the engines fitted on top of the jet for much greater efficiency
  • Importantly it is designed to be powered by zero emissions fuel like hydrogen fuel cells
  • Designed to fit into existing airport infrastructure
  • Funded by US Air Force to produce a conceptual design for a commercial passenger plane and also serve as a military tanker plane
  • Demonstrator expected in the air by 2027
  • Targeted for full commercial use by 2035.

  • 4 new models of the Apple iPhone 15 are expected to launch in September 2023:  the standard (& least expensive version), iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 ProMax
  • Big development:  Apple is expected to raise the prices on these nextG phones
  • Top new iPhone Pro Max could be priced at $2,900
  • Substantial design changes are expected including more curved edges, thicker camera bump & thinner bezel
  • Pro Max may have a periscope lens for enhanced zoom on the camera
  • Also to include an Apple feature called Dynamic Island, which is a small notch at the top of the screen that changes size to let you know that you have important alerts & notifications
  • Possibility:  no physical buttons to turn on-off, increase volume etc. - instead haptic buttons that vibrate under use
  • New iPhone 15's are being called by insiders as "incredible" and "the best"
  • In June, Apple will release its 1st VR headset which is being called the possible replacement for the iPhone.
