  • California-based Joby Aviation, in its early May message to shareholders about Q1 2023, said that it will launch commercial operations of its eVTOL flying taxis in 2025, roll out its 1st company-conforming aircraft within weeks & start delivering eVTOLs to the USAF in early 2024.
  • Here are some key data points on Joby Aviation's aircraft:

  • All electric eVTOL air taxi for ride sharing commutes
  • Under development for ten years with millions of dollars in investment money from Delta & United Airlines
  • 6 electric motors
  • Range of 150 miles
  • Seats 5 people including pilot
  • Speed - up to 200 mph
  • Zero emissions
  • Bookable at the touch of an app
  • Delta has invested $60 million & will start air taxi service 1st in NYC & LA & then mutually exclusive service in US & UK
  • Delta passengers in NYC will be able to air taxi from a heliport in Manhattan to JFK in 7 minutes
  • More than 1000 successful test flights
  • First eVTOL to get G1 (Stage 4) certification for its aircraft by FAA & also has secured Part 135 Air Carrier Certification
  • Joby is one of the hottest eVTOLS in the global market that's worth watching.

AI INNOVATIONS COULD SAVE US HEATHCARE $BILLIONS

  • A new analysis by researchers at Harvard University and McKinsey Consulting forecasts annual savings of $360 billion for the US healthcare system through artificial intelligence innovations 
  • The research says the new technologies exist and the savings are attainable within 5 years "without sacrifice to quality or access"
  • Some of the main savings come from using AI in order to:
  1. Optimize staffing for patient demand
  2. Optimize Operating Room schedules for more surgeries
  3. Predict readmissions
  4. Interpret medical images & scans
  • The researchers believe that AI will result in better health care at lower costs
  • The researchers say the challenge is getting health care systems & professionals to fully embrace and trust AI in order to fully implement it.

MAZDA ROTARY SPORTS CAR IS COMING

  • Called the RX-9, Mazda appears to be finalizing a new high performance, rotary sports car as a global model for mass production
  • It's powered by a 3-rotor engine paired with a 48-volt hybrid system that according to some reports will include 3 electric engines
  • Mazda has filed patents for the system, both in the US and Europe, which would have the power to pump out 350 to 400 hp
  • Patent suggests variable voltage system which could double output to 96 volts when desired
  • Appears that the car will be sold in the US, Europe and Japan
