NEW SCIENCE: ALCOHOL RELIEVES PAIN
Source: Stock
- Three new scientific studies from the University of Cambridge, University of Sydney and University of Greenwich, London have found that drinking alcohol relieves pain
- In fact, the University of Greenwich scientists found that 3 drinks for men & 2 for women bring a painkilling impact from the moderate to large range
- Cambridge and Sydney scientists found that 7 alcoholic drinks - like a glass of wine or a pint of beer - are the sweet spots to reduce inflammation. which causes pain, in the body
- The research teams noted that alcohol causes substantial diseases globally, including cancer & liver disease
- But in moderation it can be beneficial for pain relief
- The scientists think alcohol reduces stress, which is known to cause inflammation
- Bottomline: drinking low to moderate amounts of alcohol appears to relieve pain.
YOUR DOG IS SMARTER THAN YOU THINK
- If you think your dog behaves like a little Einstein, it probably is
- New research by scientists in Sweden & Hungary has documented that modern dog breeds have much larger brains, capable of more, than their ancient predecessors
- They found this to be the case - an increase in brain size - in all modern breeds
- They attribute it to the domestication of dogs into more complex, home/social environments, more rules & commands, more attention to human interaction & urbanization
- 865 dogs, 159 dog breeds & 48 wolves were part of the research
- By comparison, dog brains are 3/4th the size of wolf brains
- The scientists say that wolves are likely more mentally challenged by the need to find food and ward off prey than dogs which have been domesticated for 25,000 years.
