NEW TECHNOLOGY POWERS CARS ON SUNSHINE
- UK scientists at Cambridge University have developed solar powered technology that can convert CO2 and water into liquid fuel, composed of ethanol & propanol, which have zero carbon emissions
- Cars in the future could be fitted with the technology as an alternative to electricity-storing batteries
- The scientists are using "artificial leaves" that mimic photosynthesis in plants
- The artificial leaves contain light absorbers and a catalyst
- With light, the catalyst changes the CO2 to ethanol and propanol and the water into oxygen
- The liquid produced in the one-step process can be used to fuel a car
- The new fuel has a high energy density, zero emissions, is totally renewable and can be easily stored and transported
- This breakthrough technology is at the lab stage, but the scientists say they can scale it up for widespread use.
JEFF BEZOS & BLUE MOON
- Amazon founder Jeff Bezos space company Blue Origin just landed a contract to develop a lunar lander for NASA
- The lander will be called Blue Moon
- It will shuttle astronauts from an orbiting spacecraft to the lunar surface during the 2029 Artemis Mission to the Moon
