HYUNDAI'S CRAB DRIVING ELECTRIC CAR
Source: Hyundai
- South Korean automaker Hyundai has created a crab driving, electric vehicle that can parallel park into a tight parking space on autopilot
- This remarkable piece of automotive engineering can also drive sideways
- Hyundai just debuted its e-Corner system that enables parallel parking by the driver turning the wheel 90-degrees and activating a "crab walk" button to roll perpendicularly into the parking space
- It can also drive diagonally at a 45-degree angle for high speed quick changes in direction
- The new technology can also do a 360-degree turn without taking up more room than the size of the car
- Hyundai appears to have a big winner in this new technology, which it is continuing to develop.
NASA ROBOT EELS TO SEARCH FOR LIFE IN SPACE
- NASA is developing a snake-like robot called EELS designed to search for extraterrestrial life in space
- It's specifically built to traverse and maneuver in extremely difficult conditions where no other robots can go like one of Saturn's 83 icy moons Enceladus, which is considered one of the most likely places in space to possibly contain life
- EELS, which stands for Exobiology Extant Life Surveyor, can maneuver through solid and liquid formations in extreme conditions and collect samples
- Has ten rotating segments connected into a series that can twist and bend, climb and descend
- Head contains cameras, lidar & has capacity to do 3D maps of surroundings
- Designed to be highly maneuverable and autonomous
- Has been successfully deployed to examine volcanos & glaciers
- No date set for space mission yet but it has the potential to enable NASA to explore on the ground places in space that were thought to be unattainable.
BYD's YANGWANG REINVENTS THE CAR
- China's hot electric carmaker BYD's new Yangwang U9 supercar can drive on 3-wheels and even jump off the ground - it's a technological wonder
- All-electric supercar has 4 electric motors, 1100 hp and 944 pound-feet of torque
- Accelerates 0 to 60 mph in 2 seconds
- Most notable new tech: intelligent DiSus-X vehicle body control, being called the most advanced in the global automotive industry
- DiSus system controls air shocks, hydraulics & more, allowing the EV to jump, dance, drive on 3 of its 4 wheels & crab walk
- New EV architecture allows for electrical signal control rather than traditional mechanical control
- Number of sensing technologies and advanced deep intelligence
- Sporty, sleek & aerodynamic
- Said to set a new standard for EVs
- Priced at $150,000.
