FISKER'S E-SUV SETS NEW RANGE RECORD

  • California-based Fisker just announced the range on a charge of its new electric Ocean SUV - 360 miles which makes it #1 in the affordable new electric vehicle category
  • Ocean is a compact, 5-seat e-SUV, designed by Henrik Fisker, whose credits include the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9
  • Unique tech features:  
  1. PowerBank - allows appliances and electronics to be charged by the SUV
  2. PowerShare - Can transfer power from the EV to another EV in an emergency
  3. Solar roof that produces 1500 extra clean miles a year
  4. Central touchscreen on dash that rotates from portrait to landscape
  • 360 mile range on top model with starting price of $68,999
  • 2nd level model has 340 mile range
  • Base EV with 250-mile range starts at $37,499
  • Deliveries to customers begin next week.



AMERICA'S FIRST CANINE LIFEGUARD TEAM

  • At Scarborough Beach State Park in Maine, 2 black Newfoundland dogs are on duty this summer as the US' first canine ocean rescue lifeguards
  • The 2 dogs work directly with human lifeguards and in an emergency follow the guards into the water to help bring everyone safely to shore
  • 11-month-old Buoy and 2-year-old Beacon went through rigorous training with the American Academy of Canine Water Rescues, which now has a number of dogs in lifeguard training
  • The Newfoundland breed is known to be one of powerful swimmers, which is needed in ocean waters off the Maine coast that can be turbulent, choppy and tricky
  • Lifeguard dogs Buoy and Beacon have significantly added to the list of services to humanity that dogs have been trained to provide including search & rescue, seeing eye, bomb & drug sniffing, personal assistant/companion and now ocean rescue.

GOOGLE AI & MAYO CLINIC PARTNER TO IMPROVE PATIENT CARE

  • In an historic & innovative first, the Mayo Clinic is partnering with Google Cloud to use new AI generative tools to improve patient care
  • The new Google service is called Enterprise Search on Google's AI Generative App Build & Mayo is the 1st health care provider to trial it
  • Among targeted goals:
  1. Make it easier for doctors to track down patient information globally by providing immediate access to their medical records
  2. Providing doctors & researchers immediate access to cross-referenced medical research outcomes
  3. Better diagnoses, treatments & possibly save lives
  4. Create Mayo's own customized chatbot to sift through massive data while remaining HIPPA compliant
  • Mayo Clinic is recognized as one of the world's leading medical centers and it says it is methodically working with Google to seize the new patient care benefits of new AI technology
