  • E-fuel is car fuel made from renewable or decarbonized electricity, without any crude oil and is growing in interest as an alternative to gasoline & diesel
  • Porsche is a believer that e-fuel is a great way to re-legitimize the combustion engine and make it viable for a zero-emissions future
  • Porsche has built an e-fuel refinery in Chile to jumpstart development
  • The VW-owned luxury automaker has also successfully petitioned the European Commission to exempt cars using e-fuel from the European Union's 2035 ban on combustion engine cars
  • Another vocal proponent of e-fuel is Ferrari, which built its fabled history on big, powerful combustion engines
  • One issue that widespread utilization of e-fuel faces is the high cost of manufacturing it; those costs need to come down
  • Underscoring its belief in the future of e-fuels, Porsche will race 30 Porsche 911 this fall fueled by e-fuel.

  • This will be a 1st for LeMans along with hydrogen fuel cell race cars which have also been declared legal for the grueling, 24-hour races
  • Toyota will be a prominent participant with its new concept, the GR H2 Racing concept that it unveiled today at LeMans
  • Toyota is committed to pushing hydrogen fuel as a zero-emissions means of driving & racing
  • The GR H2 is powered by a hydrogen combustion engine & is on display at the new Hydrogen Village at LeMans this weekend
  • Toyota says not only is hydrogen fuel good for the environment but also good for racing with "the sound, torque & dynamics all there", along with no carbon emissions.
