WORLD'S MOST EFFICIENT VEHICLE
- CA-based solar car manufacturer Aptera has developed a solar car prototype that it calls "the most efficient vehicle in the world"
- The EV is currently undergoing wind tunnel testing in Italy to substantiate the claim
- Here are key details:
- Tiny, 3-wheel, solar electric vehicle
- Highly aerodynamic, teardrop shape with a spaceship appearance
- Solar panels cover the roof
- Claims to have a record breaking drag coefficient
- Travels up to 1,000 miles on a single charge
- Capable of 40 miles of solar driving per day
- Requires no charging for most daily use
- Very fast - beat Tesla Model 3 and Audi R8 GT Spyder in 1/4 mile drag race; top speed of 101 mph
- Goes from 0 to 60 mpg in 4 seconds
Vehicle can be reserved for purchase - starting price of $25,900.
NEW SMART GREEN TRENDS: MICROGRIDS & E-FLEETS
- With this summer's extreme heat & skyrocketing fuel prices, a number of US manufacturers are looking for innovative, smart energy solutions to cut their bills and carbon footprints
- Two mega-trends are emerging: microgrids and electric fleets
- Microgrids are company owned solar and wind energy resources that supply the company's energy needs
- According to a survey of more than 100 US manufacturers by ABI Research, 25% are investing in microgrids and 34% are planning to do so
- They are also significantly adding electric cars and electric powered trucks to their fleets
- Other smart energy solutions include:
- Energy usage software monitoring systems to manage efficiency
- Energy storage and backup systems like battery farms
- In the ABI survey, the top challenge facing US manufacturers is energy costs.
USING GENERATIVE AI TO FIGHT GENERATIVE AI
- A new, New York-based cybersecurity company, Jericho Security, is using generative AI to combat cybersecurity threats made possible by advances in generative AI
- New AI is enabling increasingly sophisticated and highly personalized generative AI phishing attacks
- Jericho's approach uses machine learning capabilities, natural language processing and custom language models to counter the attacks
- Their goal is to train employees to proactively spot and stop the attack through AI powered simulations personalized for each employee's use
- This is an AI powered security awareness platform that continuously evolves with new threats
- The system is being deployed at large, at risk enterprises like financial services firms and government agencies
- The company says traditional methods to thwart cyber attacks have become obsolete overnight because of generative AI
- Jericho is currently involved in funding rounds to finance taking their business global.
