NEW AI-POWERED AIRCRAFT FOR USAF & US MARINES
Source: Krakos
- The USAF and US Marines are test-flying a fascinating new AI empowered aircraft, the XQ-58A Valkyrie stealth drone. While it's an X plane for the US military, the highly advanced AI technologies are likely to also empower commercial flights sometime in the future. Here's what we know:
- Unmanned plane doesn't need a runway
- Takes-off from a ground-based rocket launcher
- Lands using parachutes
- Has AI and machine learning-driven autonomous flight systems
- Primary military function: surveillance and reconnaissance
- Serves as "wingman" for crewed fighter jets
- Maximum range of 3,000 miles
- 30' in length and 27' wingspan
- Cruising speed of Mach 0.72
- Top speed Mach of 0.85
- Plane is being developed by Kratos Defense and Security Solutions.
HONDA'S NEWEST CONCEPT CAR FOR CITY COMMUTES
Source: Honda
- The Honda Sustaina-C hatchback is a compact EV for crowded city streets and designed to be good for the environment. Here's what we know:
- 100% electric vehicle with zero emissions
- Eco-friendly design that uses recycled materials
- Features an acrylic resin exterior that's known as the Queen of Plastic
- Sustaina-C is being offered as a combo with an all-electric scooter, the Honda Pocket, a foldable electric scooter, also made of recycled plastic, that fits inside the car to deliver greater city commuting capabilities
- Here are some e Honda specs on Sustaina-C:
- Horsepower - 134 to 152 hp
- Range - 100 miles
- Torque - 232 pound/feet
- Top speed - 90 mph
- Price - $33,900 to $36,700 range
- These new, clean and green Hondas will debut at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show
- Sustainer-C could play a significant role in the future of EVs.
AI SUCCESSFULLY FORECASTING QUAKES
- One of the most elusive scientific forecasts is the prediction of earthquakes and the lack of warnings can be catastrophic. Now a new AI algorithm to predict quakes is showing great promise. Here's what we know:
- New AI algorithm developed by researchers at the University of Texas Austin is showing great promise in predicting quakes a week before they happen
- The AI uses machine learning and a 5-year database of seismic recordings to make the predictions
- It's been trialed for 7 months in China
- Over that time frame, it had 70% accuracy rate in predicting quakes 1 week before they occurred
- This new AI algorithm is being called a breakthrough
- Experts are saying this new AI system could revolutionize quake preparedness by serving as an early warning system and thereby save lives.
