WEARABLE AI - EMERGING TREND
- On the runway at Paris Fashion Week, supermodel Naomi Campbell wore a first-of-its-kind "AI Pin" on the lapel of her jacket. It was the first look at software & hardware company Humane's wearable "AI Pin" and a dramatic example of a big AI wearable-device trend. Here's what we know:
- AI Pin is an intelligent and connected AI device that is pocket-sized and designed to be worn on clothing so you can have AI capabilities on the move
- It uses a wide range of sensors that enable contextual and ambient computer interaction
- The company says it's a screenless, standalone device built from the ground-up for AI
- Its full capabilities will be detailed during its November debut
- Among known capabilities, it can alert you to phone calls, translate sentences into foreign languages and tell you that you're allergic to the chocolate you're eating
- AI pin is part of a big AI wearable device trend to supplant the smartphone
- Among other new AI wearable devices, Ray-Ban Meta Smart AI glasses, just introduced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, with mikes, cameras, speakers embedded with Meta AI
- Also, Rewind Pendants by startup Rewhd - $59.00 necklace embedded with AI, that looks like a piece of jewelry
- Rewind Pendants, according to the company, "record what you do and make it searchable" as a database of your activities, including what you see and hear
- These wearable AI devices make it incredibly convenient to have AI on the go
- Some tech companies hope we prefer the wearables to our smartphones
- A caveat: wearables do present some privacy issues because it can be difficult to know that you're being recorded.
