SOLAR CAR - SQUAD - IS COMING TO THE US

  • All new, solar-powered electric city car, the Squad from the Netherlands, is coming to the US.  Here are some facts:
  1. This is a small, solar-electric car, designed for city driving, that costs only $6,250.00
  2. Designed to make city living easier and more affordable
  3. Car is lightweight, efficient and helps to reduce transportation emissions
  4. Squad debuted in Europe in May 2022 and in some European nations doesn't require a license to drive because it's so lightweight
  5. Top speed - 28 mph
  6. On a sunny day gets 62 miles of range from its 4 battery packs
  7. Solar panel on roof can produce 19 miles of range
  8. 2 kw rear-in-wheel motors power the 4, 1.6 kWh battery packs
  9. Currently carries 2 passengers
  10. 4-passenger version is in the works
  11. Squad is taking pre-orders for the car in the US and business is said to be very brisk
  12. Passenger cars produce 60% of all transportation emissions so a solar-powered small vehicle like this could be very impactful on the environment.
JETSON ONE - UNIQUE FLYING CAR

  • Jetson One is being described as a jetpack product that flies at the speed of a car.  Some key facts:
  • In the past week, it made its inaugural flight in the US
  • Motor-sports inspired electric-powered flying car - eVTOL
  • Being developed by Italy-based Jetson
  • Is taking pre-orders - 300 so far - for deliveries in 2024
  • Price - $98,000
  • Top speed - 63 mph
  • Top altitude - 1500 feet
  • Powered by 8 electric motors each with their own battery pack
  • 8 propellers
  • 20 minutes of flying time on a charge
  • Can carry maximum weight of 200 pounds
  • Classified as an ultra-light aircraft with no license, certification or testing needed
  • Company is now based in Italy
  • Takes 5 hours to learn how to operate
  • Flight computer controls most of the flight.

EARLY CANCER DETECTION TEST FOR DOGS

  • The UK today deployed use of a new, early cancer detection test for young dogs.  Here are some key facts:
  1. In the UK, dogs more prone to cancer like Labs and Golden Retrievers can be tested starting at the age of 4 via a new blood test for early signs of cancer
  2. This allows for earlier and easier treatments by vets to fight the disease in the pet
  3. It's a blood test called Nu Q test innovated by the biotech Volition, based in Austin, TX with significant operations in Belgium
  4. The key is the test detects early warning signs of cancer in healthy dogs to allow early intervention
  5. More than half of hound dogs over 10 years in the UK die from cancer
  6. The accuracy rate of detection by this new blood test is 97%
  7. The test is now available in the US
  8. There are more than 6 million new cases of dog cancer in the US every year
  9. Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over 1 years old 
  10. As in humans, for dogs the earlier cancer is detected, the better the odds to beat it.
  11. This company is also developing a similar blood test for cats.
