  • China views humanoid robots as their primary engine of future economic growth and aims to put them into mass production by 2025.  Here are the facts:
  1. China is banking on humanoid robots as their engine of economic growth
  2. China aims to have world leadership in humanoid robot technology by 2027
  3. Chinese government has just issued guidelines urging their roboticists to seek innovation, safe supply chains and global competitiveness in the technology
  4. It is targeting accelerated development of robots particularly for dangerous jobs in harsh conditions
  5. Experts at MIT believe China will establish a "humanoid robot innovation system" to drive breakthroughs and world leadership in the tech
  6. MIT is forecasting that humanoid robots will become a disruptive technology through AI like smartphones and computers.

  • You sometimes worry you may lose your job to a robot.  What would it be like to work for a robot? Here's a case:
  • Dictador, a Polish rum company, has hired a humanoid robot CEO
  • Named Mika, she's a research project between Hanson Robotics and Dictador
  • She's been customized to represent the company and its values
  • Mika is driven by AI and machine learning algorithms
  • Hanson Robotics, which helped to develop Mika, believes in the importance of humanizing AI to care about people
  • Some people refuse to work for robots, but if AI robots are humanized and care about people, it could be better than working for a bossy human, with prejudices and erroneous, pre-conceived notions, who stands in your way

  • Researchers at Technical University of Vienna have created a unique oxygen-ion battery with tremendous breakthrough potential.  Here are some key facts:
  • Solid-state oxygen-ion battery composed of non-flammable electro- ceramic materials
  • It's lab scale at this point and patent-pending
  • Big advantages:
  1. Eliminates fire hazards posed by lithium-ion batteries
  2. Doesn't need rare elements as part of its make-up
  3. Provides exceptional durability
  • This new battery could be big for large-scale energy storage systems to hold electrical energy from renewable sources and for the many items like laptops & EVs that now run on lithium-ion batteries.
