- Boston Consulting Group has joined other companies like JP Morgan Chase in making big investments in the nascent carbon capture industry. Here are some key facts:
- BCG has cut a multimillion-dollar deal with Switzerland's Climeworks to purchase 80,000 metric tons of captured CO2 over a 15-year period and also provide consulting services
- Climeworks has invented direct air capture technology that filters CO2 directly from ambient air for capture and removal
- The deal, valued by some financial news organizations at $63 million+, is considered a major win for the future of carbon capture technology
- Carbon capture and removal are emerging technologies to help move nations and companies toward net zero emissions
- Carbon capture is forecast to be a future trillion-dollar market.
ELON MUSK'S NEXT BUSINESS - SCHOOLS
- Tesla CEO Elon Musk is about to open a technology-centric private school in Austin, TX. Here are some key facts on Musk's plans:
- It's an elementary and high school called Ad Astra School in Austin
- Tech-centric micro school focused on STEM - science, technology, engineering and math
- Likely to feature Socratic discussions and independent learning of STEM using videos
- Musk has provided seed money of $100 million to open the tech-innovation school through his non-profit X Foundation
- Musk's future university is expected to mix in-person and remote instructions plus innovative hands-on learning experiences with highly experienced faculty
- He'll also seek accreditation for the University, likely to be located in Austin
- Texas is one of 17 states that don't require private schools to be accredited, licensed or approved
- Musk has strong beliefs about the importance of STEM education as he is a well-educated, Ivy League engineering graduate of the University of Pennsylvania
- Given the thousands of jobs he's created at Tesla and SpaceX, Musk has a big, vested interest in an educated workforce.
TOYOTA'S CROWN CROSSOVER OFF-ROADER MAY COME TO LIFE
- Some Japanese media outlets are reporting that Toyota's Crown Outdoor Concept is going into production. Here's what we know:
- The Crown Outdoor Concept was just revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon
- The crossover sedan has extra ground clearance compared to rivals
- Beefed up suspension
- Chunky tires
- Has roof and hood lightbars
- The Japanese automotive giant wants to make a series of Special Edition of the Crown
- Upshot: this new off-roader may go into limited production as a limited edition to the Toyota lineup starting in the Japanese market.
