DACIA MANIFESTO:  CONCEPT CAR OF THE YEAR

  • Defeating the auto titans, Dacia won first place over BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benz for Concept Car Of The Year.  Here's what we know:
  • Renault-owned, Eastern European car brand Dacia is widely known for affordable pricing
  • Dacia is also known for simple designs and for the use of only necessary equipment to keep  prices down
  • Dacia vehicles are frequently high on Europe's top selling car lists
  • Voting the Dacia Manifesto #1 was a jury of world-renowned car designers of many famous car brands
  • Vehicle is considered a lab of new "live" innovations
  • Dacia Manifesto boasts:
  1. A fully open, super compact SUV
  2. All-terrain design can take you anywhere
  3. Eco-friendly and efficient
  4. Removable battery charger gives you a charge in the middle of nowhere
  5. 4-wheel drive, large wheels and high ground clearance
  6. No windows, no doors, no windscreen
  7. Airless tires
  8. Considered featherweight light at roughly1,605 lbs. with the largest powertrain
  • Manifesto is currently not available for sale yet
  • Given its Concept Car of the Year Award, very likely to find its way into production.

CHATGPT vs ELICIT:  WHICH AI IS BETTER FOR MEDICAL RESEARCH?

  • An international team of scientists is investigating the credibility and efficiency of generative AI as an information gathering tool in medical research.  Here's what we know:
  • Two generative AI's - ChatGPT and Elicit - were fed identical clinical questions and literature selection criteria
  • Research study developed out of researcher's experience managing vast amounts of medical literature over lengthy periods of time
  • International team of medical researchers was headed by Professor Masaru Enomoto of Osaka Metropolitan University Graduate School of Medicine
  • Findings published in Hepatology Communications
  • Results showed that Elicit efficiently suggested multiple, accurate medical references in minutes while ChatGPT suggested fictitious medical articles
  • As generative AI evolves, the scientists felt it is important to reality-test its real/time effectiveness.

SWEDEN'S FLYING PASSENGER FERRY - NEW FORM OF TRAVEL

  • The world's 1st "flying" passenger ferry has successfully completed testing and has gone into production in Finland.  Some key details:
  • Called Candela P-12 and created by Candela, a Swedish marine technology company
  • Uses computer-controlled hydrofoils to lift the EV ferry above the water's surface
  • Lift cuts energy consumption and minimizes wakes
  • Seats 30 passengers
  • Hits speeds of 30 knots
  • Range of 50 nautical miles
  • Cuts operational costs by 50% when compared to diesel boats
  • Will enter passenger service in Finland in 2024 as a 9-month pilot program
  • Starts with service from Stockholm to suburb Ekero and cuts water travel time from 55 minutes to 25 minutes
  • Green, zero emissions, promising new form of travel.
