CHINESE AIR TAXI MAKES HISTORY
- EHang's EH216-S air taxi just made history by performing the first-ever passenger flight of a flying taxi with no pilot. Here's what we know:
- The flying taxi is essentially a pilotless and autonomous drone
- Powered by 16 rotors and an electric battery
- eVTOL that takes-off and lands vertically
- Top speed 81 mph
- Range - 22 miles
- Seats 2 people
- Quieter and greener than a helicopter
- Doesn't need a runway
- Does not drive
- User interface is so simple, the company says the general public can operate it
- Potential uses: personal travel, emergency medical services, sightseeing, cargo transport, firefighting
- This vehicle has been certified by Chinese aviation authorities to fly commercial passengers in China.
