WORLD'S LARGEST ELECTRIC PLANE - ELYSIAN
Source: Elysian
- The Elysian E9X is a zero-emissions, all-electric passenger jet concept that can seat 90 passengers. Here's what we know about the world's largest, electric passenger plane:
- Designed by Dutch startup Elysian with breakthrough technologies designed in partnership with experts at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands
- This is a concept electric plane that challenges established wisdom about the potential limit on range for all-electric passenger planes at about 200 to 250 miles on a charge with a maximum of 20 passengers
- The team says this concept can achieve 500 miles range on a battery pack of 360 watt-hours per kilogram right now
- They believe it will travel up to 620 miles on a charge in the near future with 90 passengers onboard
- Elysian E9X has an advanced aerodynamic design to generate lift without increasing drag
- Its high-density battery technology is being integrated into the wings
- To maximize the aerodynamics, the wings are extremely large in comparison to the plane's body and the wings have foldable tips to fit into current airport infrastructure
- Elysian believes they will have the E9X flying within 10 years
- Their vision is a look at the future of flying green and clear of carbon emissions.
