  • We know that Dolphins are remarkable animals.  Now, a Cambridge University zoologist has discovered that they give themselves names through their distinct, signature whistles.  Here are some key findings:
  • Dolphins create for themselves as babies their own signature whistle
  • It's their distinct tune, which serves as an audible nametag
  • This remarkable fact has been documented by renowned Cambridge University zoologist Dr. Arik Kershenbaum
  • He says they are the only creatures other than humans that give themselves a name - as far as we know
  • Dr. Kershenbaum says they have crafted a way of saying "this is me" via their whistle to other dolphins
  • He adds each whistle is different and unique; and that their ability to do so is extremely rare
  • Dolphins are very social and intelligent creatures that live in social networks with a high level of communication, to the point of having their own names.
