AN UMBRELLA TO BLOCK SUN RAYS FROM REACHING EARTH?
Source: Technion-Israel Institute of Technology
- Israeli scientists are developing a huge umbrella to lessen Earth's temperature by nearly 3-degrees. Here's what we know:
- The umbrella under development is the size of Argentina
- The Climate Change team is from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology
- They say it could be achieved by 2027
- The cost could reach trillions of dollars
- Called the "Sail", it would sit 9 million miles from Earth
- The umbrella consists of lightweight solar sails affixed to a solar powered craft
- White House announced that it is open to plans to block sunlight to halt global warning
- Israeli team expects to have a prototype in the next 3 years
- The umbrella will need a specially designed rocket to take it into space
- During the space flight, the umbrella would be folded inside and open up when it reaches its destination.
NUCLEAR FUSION REACTION CREATES 2Xs ENERGY PUT IN
- New nuclear fusion records are being set at the US National Ignition Facility, bringing the world closer to an era of plentiful green, clean energy. Here are some facts:
- US scientists have been producing as output two-times the amount of energy put into nuclear fusion reactions
- They started setting records in 2022 and have been increasing those energy production milestones ever since
- Fusion energy works like the sun, squeezing smaller particles together into larger atoms
- Nuclear fusion creates more energy than the nuclear fission process in current nuclear reactors and, importantly, does not leave behind radioactive waste
- These fusion milestones are just being published by the US scientific team
- They are significant advances and give hope to a new era of green energy
- Still much work needs to be done: specifically, the creation of practical fusion reactors for widespread use.
