CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY ANIMAL COMMUNICATIONS EXPERT SAYS HE CAN TALK TO ANIMALS
Source: Cambridge Univ, Dr. Doolittle, Winnie Kane
- Animal Communications scientist Dr. Arik Kershenbaum of the University of Cambridge in the UK is being called the real-life Dr. Doolittle
- He uses advanced scientific technologies to talk with animals
- He says that everything from a dog's whine to a dolphin's whistle has significant meaning and is the result of their communications developing and evolving over time
- Dr. Kershenbaum says animals utilize communications methods because it's useful to them
- Here are some examples:
- Wolf howling and variations thereof can convey loneliness, fear or happiness which he is able to identify through his innovative scientific approach
- Bird's singing can convey they own the territory
- Cat's yowling can mean someone is intruding on its territory
- Here's the unique approach he takes: Dr. Kershenbaum records the animal's communications, puts it through specialized software which provides a graphical analysis of the sounds, their cadences, frequency, etc.
- He then connects it with what the animal is going through (i.e. regarding the cat, a second cat was introduced in the home)
- His methodology, for example, has pinpointed a wolf howling in loneliness and then howling with joy when he hears the howls of fellow wolves in the distance
- The system has identified and graphed the signature whistles of dolphins off Wales with the whistles equivalent to their names and how they present themselves to fellow dolphins
- Dr. Kirshenbaum is being called a scientific dog whisperer and a modern-day Dr. Doolittle
- He sees the potential of AI immediately interpreting dog sounds as friendly or not so
- His system is being hailed as a scientific breakthrough to better understand the incredible animals around us
- Were he to use the system on my pup Winnie, he'd discover that she is a super-smart 1&1/2-year-old Smooth Fox Terrier, who uses every aspect of her voice, facial expressions and even giving her toys to get constant treats!! I call her Wicked Winnie!!!
