  • Savy entrepreneurs and investors like Jeff Bezos are betting their money on the development of humanoid robots empowered by AI to be a significant force in the global economy's near future.  Here are some key facts:
  • Powered by AI, these smart bots are expected to be vital helpers at home and workers in factories and businesses
  • An example:  new California-based startup Figure AI, that's developing a general purpose, humanoid robot called Figure 01
  • It recently attracted $675 million in investment money and is now valued at $2.6 billion
  • The investors include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and big players in AI like Microsoft, Nvidia and Open AI
  • Open AI is also developing specialized AI systems to enable Figure's robot to see, speak, move like humans and perform physical tasks
  • Aim:  have the robots perform everyday tasks autonomously
  • To keep its robotic options open, Open AI is also investing in Norwegian robotics company 1X
  • Empowering humanoid robots with AI is a growing megatrend
  • VC firms are accelerating their investments in the sector where there are lots of competitors - like Tesla and Boston Dynamics.

  • China's T-Flight hyperloop train just successfully tested at a record-breaking 387 mph and has the potential to hit a whopping 1,243 mph. Here's what we know:
  • China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation has developed a high-speed hyperloop that just tested at speeds close to 400 mph
  • Travels in a vacuum tube
  • Has the potential to revolutionize travel
  • If all goes well, it could travel at speeds of 1,243 mph - faster than a plane
  • Called the floating hyperloop T-Flight
  • Uses magnetic levitation technology where magnets lift the RR pod above the tracks in a vacuum tube letting it glide
  • No wheels, no friction, faster and quieter travel
  • Expected to be under development for a decade plus
  • Example of time savings: could cut travel time from Beijing to Wuhan from 4 hours to 30 minutes.
