BIG AIR TAXI PARTNERSHIP: JAPAN'S SUZUKI & SKYDRIVE

- In Japan, automotive giant Suzuki and eVTOL maker SkyDrive have started building SkyDrive flying cars at a Suzuki automotive plant. Here are the key facts:
- This is a very important partnership to kick-off commercial production of flying cars, starting with 100 vehicles per year
- First vehicle being produced is its flagship aircraft SD-05
- 3-seat aircraft for pilot and 2 passengers
- All-electric
- eVTOL
- 12 rotor configuration
- Targets short distance flights of 9 miles
- Top speed of 62 mph
- International award-winning design for "most accessible flying car"
- Can take-off and land on building rooftops and parking lots
- Other car-eVTOL strategic partnerships include Toyota and California-based Joby Aviation and Stellantis and California-based Archer Aviation.
HUMANOID ROBOT SETS WORLD RUNNING RECORD
- Unitree's humanoid robot has recorded the fastest speed in the world for full-sized humanoid robots. Here's what we know:
- Set the world record top speed of 7.38 mph
- Never tires
- Can walk up and down stairs
- Powertrain in robot provides speed, flexibility, maneuverability and power
- Can move arms, legs and torso as well as jump into the air reaching heights a human would
- Can overcome obstacles and change direction
- Previous speed record was 5.59 mph
- 5'9" tall, weighs 100 pounds and is equipped with 3D lidar sensor for vision
- Always manages to re-establish equilibrium after disturbance
- Base price is $90,000 and deliveries are planned by Shanghai-based Unitree Robotics for 2024
