MY DOG SEEMS TO THINK LIKE ME?
Source: Winnie Kane
- New science has documented that dogs actually "see" in their minds objects like humans do. Dogs visualize objects like a ball, bone, toys and more. It's called mental representation. And it's quite a breakthrough in understanding how our best friends think. Here are some key findings from the research:
- This new research documents for the first time that our dogs truly do understand our words and how their minds process it in responding to human language
- Like when I say to my Winnie "Go get your ball" how does she comprehend and get it so we can play and fetch? How does she understand find the treat? And so many more conversations?
- The University of Stavanger in Norway and ELTE University of Budapest team put non-invasive EEG tech on dogs' heads to track their brains' electrical impulses to words from their owners like Ball
- They worked with 27 dogs, their owners and the dogs' favorite toys that they knew by name
- The dogs' brain recognitions actively mimicked what's called in humans "mental representation" in the dogs brain electrical EEG responses
- Conclusion: our dogs "see" in their minds the names of objects just as we do
- Turns out our dogs think much like we do.
