NASA'S BOLD PLAN TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE WITH MASSIVE TONS OF ICE
Source: NASA & Stock
- NASA has proposed a bold, unconventional plan to fight Climate Change by injecting the atmosphere with millions of tons of ice to cool the planet. Here are some key facts:
- NASA and NOAA scientists believe drying up the atmosphere could fight and help reduce the effects of Climate Change
- They propose injecting 2 tons of ice particles into the atmosphere every week
- They would essentially be seeding the atmosphere with ice
- They'd use high-altitude planes flying at 58,000 feet to do the seeding in the upper atmosphere
- The ice particles would freeze water vapor (which would fall to Earth) and dehydrate the stratosphere where water vapor turns into heat-trapping gas
- NASA says water vapor is Earth's most abundant greenhouse gas
- They would start the seeding process in the Western Pacific Cold Point, a region of the atmosphere that's the size of Australia
- Computer models suggest it could reduce temperatures by 10%
- NASA and NOAA are working on this as an option but aren't ready to implement
- It's a radical approach called geoengineering or manipulating the Earth's atmosphere with possible unknown consequences.
GERMANY MOVES FAST FORWARD ON FLYING TAXIS
Source: Volocopter
- The German government just approved production of eVTOL maker Volocopter's flying taxi VoloCity. It's a major step forward for the future of flying taxis. Here's what we know:
- VoloCity is a 2-seat, piloted flying taxi
- It's an eVTOL or all-electric, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft
- Top speed: 68 mph
- Battery powered
- Range of 200 miles on a charge
- 18 rotors
- Can carry 2,000 pounds
- Multiple redundant systems for safety
- Vehicle has successfully flown and tested before the FAA in Tampa, FL, also successfully tested in Germany & Japan and flown in Dallas and Las Vegas
- German authorities have approved the company's two new facilities for prototyping flying taxis and for serial manufacturing
- Volocopter is also very active in Japan which stands-out in its openness to authorizing use of flying taxis.
