THANKS TO CORNELL UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FOR SETTING US STRAIGHT ON CANNED WINE
Source: Stock
- Canned soda, canned beer...canned wine? Not so fast! Here's what we know:
- The popularity of canned wine has increased in recent years, but there's one problem: the aroma of rotten eggs
- Cornell to the rescue and a pleasant-smelling canned wine future
- Sulfites in wine can react with aluminum creating a rotten egg smell
- Use of ultrathin liners can prevent the exposure of sulfites to aluminum thus preventing the fumes
- Timing is important: canned wine is intended to be consumed quickly
- An easy home hack to stinky canned wine: pour it into a glass and swirl. Within minutes it volatizes ...no more rotten egg smell
- Thanks to Cornell, we may soon be able to crack open a can of our favorite expensive French wine.
