- Archeologists, tech experts, divers, magnet searchers and filmmakers are searching ponds and waterways in Britain for King Arthur's legendary Excalibur sword. Here's what we know:
- It's one of the most famous objects in history
- Said to possess magical powers and to be associated with the rightful sovereignty of Britain
- As he lay dying, King Arthur threw Excaliber into a lake
- Experts have argued over which lake for centuries
- Project developments so far:
- Several possible locations have been identified
- Filmmakers are trying to find it first for a TV series called Weird Britain
- Project start was in Cornwell
- If the sword is magnetized, magnetic search devices have the edge
- Key problem is identifying the lake it's in and if the lake still exists from the 6th century
- The goal is to establish that this legend of history is true
