  • Scientists from Nagoya University in Japan have discovered how to diminish and even eliminate anger during stressful situations. Here are some key facts:
  • Previous anger management methods include:
  1. Take deep breaths
  2. Go for a run
  3. Scream into a pillow
  • Nagoya University study has resulted in a new & innovative approach:
  1. Participants were asked to write an opinion piece on a social issue
  2. They received negative comments on what they wrote
  3. Then they were asked to write down their feelings about the insulting comments they received
  4. One group kept their written notes; the other disposed of their written thoughts
  5. Net result:  while all were angry, those who threw out their thoughts, eliminated their anger almost entirely
  • Upshot:  Imagine the fun you can have:
  1. Keep a notepad in your pocket and tell your family, friends and co-workers what it's for
  2. Give them a jaunty, knowing look and keep taking the notebook out and write furiously as they're talking
  3. Bet they'll shut-up and give the floor back to you!
Real science you can use!
