MYSTERY OF UK'S SEAHENGE SOLVED?
- The mystery of Seahenge, a Stonehenge-like, 4,000-year-old structure in Norfolk, UK seems to have been solved. Here's what we know:
- Seahenge is comprised of a tree stump surrounded by 55 closely fitted oak posts
- Built in a saltmarsh away from the ocean
- Dates back to 2049 BC
- For the past 4000 years, no one has determined its purpose
- Dunes and mud flats have protected it from the sea
- It was built during the Bronze Age at a time in history of a very bitterly cold climate
- As a result of their research, scientists at the University of Aberdeen have concluded Seahenge was used as a ritual site to beseech the gods to flip off the cold switch, extend summer and engender warm weather
- 4000 years later...it looks like their efforts at Seahenge are panning out in the very warm weather we're getting.
