NEW SCIENCE: LINK BETWEEN YOUR NAME & THE PROFESSION YOU CHOOSE
Source: Stock
- Scientists at the University of Utah say peoples' names may be the reason they end up in certain careers. Here's what we know:
- Over a 1,000 years ago when surnames began to emerge, the name often reflected a career like Baker or Hunter
- University of Utah scientists argue that people subconsciously choose careers better suited to their names
- The scientists analyzed more than 3400 names
- The data backed up their theory: peoples' names were linked to careers with matching first letters statistically higher than by chance
- Specific examples: Someone named Dennis is statistically more likely to be a dentist just as Lawrence is more likely to be a lawyer
- Bottom line: if you want to be nicely taken care of in your old age...you might call your daughter Millie the millionaire or your son Billy the billionaire.
NEW AI THAT TRANSLATES YOUR DOG'S BARK

- Ever wonder what your dog is trying to say when he or she barks? A new AI model can provide you with an immediate answer. Here are some key facts:
- University of Michigan AI scientists collaborated with Mexico's National Institute for Astrophysics on this breakthrough AI model
- They took an AI translator designed to transcribe human speech and taught it to decode dog barks
- They fed it 200 minutes of 74 dogs barking in their homes
- The AI bark translations are 70% accurate
- It can identify the dog's breed, age and gender
- It can specify the meaning of barks - anger, fear, protectiveness, danger, playfulness, happiness, etc.
- Experts say this is the closest we've ever come to real-time communications with and understanding of our dogs
- The scientists hope it will help foster animal welfare
- The system can also be used to translate sounds from other species like birds and dolphins
- Can't wait to use an AI translator on my Win... she looks so innocent, but I sometimes wonder what does she really think?
