Here are some key facts: Called the Sugar Volt Hybrid electric concept that's the size of a Boeing 737 but with longer wings Thanks to its electric engines, it is 70% more efficient than a fossil fuel-powered jet Electric engines work with gas engines that are used for takeoff During flight, the electric motors power the plane Foldable wings, in part to help fit into airport infrastructure Its longer wings will allow for shorter takeoffs and quieter operations Expected to hit the skies in the 2030 to 2050 framework Both NASA and Boeing say this ultra-green commercial jet will define the future of commercial aviation.
